Before we jump into the magical point that can help reduce your back pain, I thought it’d be useful to briefly explain what we’re doing here.
It’s called Acupressure.
Used for thousands of years in China, acupressure applies the same principles as acupuncture (and Japanese Yoga) to promote relaxation and wellness and to treat disease.
What Japanese Yoga, acupressure and acupuncture all have in common is they’re based on the concept of life energy which flows through “meridians” in the body.
When these meridians are clear and ‘unblocked’ we’re at optimal health and the body’s functioning at a high level, as it was designed to do.
When these meridians aren’t clear and become blocked, the body exhibits symptoms that ‘all is not well’ and may indicate there’s some dis-ease within the body.
In Japanese Yoga, we do specific movements with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.
In acupuncture, needles are applied to certain points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.
In acupressure treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.
If you’re a fan of essential oils, you can speed up and enhance your healing by diluting supporting oils (see chart below), rubbing them into the spots in the picture and then applying pressure with the fingers.

These acupressure points support a whole bunch of ailments including:
Back pain (especially lower back)
Back stiffness
Sciatica
Neck pain
Arthritis in the back.
How to locate the points:
BL 40 is directly behind the knee. Do not apply deep pressure here to avoid injuring the knee. Instead, use very light pressure and create movement by wiggling the area gently for 4-5 seconds.
BL 55, BL 56, BL 57 are found on the centre line of the calf muscle (gastrocnemius). Many times, these points are very tender, so add your pressure slowly.
Below are some essential oils that can uplevel your acupressure:
Health Issues BL BL 40 + 55 + 56+ 57 Helps | Suggested Essential Oils that Support |

Back Stiffness | Ice Blue, Ice Blue Rub |

Always consult your Doctor before use (and choose your Dr wisely because many Drs have no training and education about the scientifically proven benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine and pure essential oils and will therefore say they’re not effective as therapies).
