You may have read my previous blog about the Mumbai to Sydney Flight from Hell.

There’s an extra piece to the story that makes it even more dramatic.
A ‘sequel’, if you like!
Thing is, while my daughter was suffering from Mumbai – Sydney, I was having my own challenges.
Somewhere between Singapore and Sydney, I came down with a cracking headache.
I’m generally not much of a ‘headache-y type’, but when I’m stressed-out, tired or getting sick I can get them quite badly.
This was one of those stressful moments and it was coming on strong.
So strongly, that I needed several bathroom visits to purge (and after having worked as a flight attendant in a past life, trust me when I say you don’t want to put your head anywhere near an aircraft toilet!)
It was on one of these toilet visits, eyes bloodshot, shoulders tense, jaw clenching and head in hands that I noticed how contracted I was.
I could feel how every cell in my body was resisting this moment and taking the ‘poor me, this is a nightmare’ approach.
So I did something counter-intuitive.
I turned to what author, Regena Thomashauer in her book ‘Pussy’, calls a ‘womantra’.
Yes, the book is what you think it’s about! Great read, if you’re wondering;-).
This ‘womantra’ is a simple sentence you can say to yourself anytime – and it’s especially useful when life isn’t going your way.
Are you ready for it?
“My timing is perfect and elegant. I’m in exactly the right place at the right time”.
When I uttered these words sitting puffy eyed and defeated on the aircraft toilet seat, something changed inside me.
It wasn’t that I suddenly felt ‘better’.
Or the crappy situation of flying solo with a sick child on a long flight had changed.
But it created some space.
It was a true acceptance of the moment.
I urge you to say it out loud to yourself now and feel into your own body how you respond.
“My timing is perfect and elegant. I’m in exactly the right place at the right time”.
Do you breathe a little easier and feel the tension drain from your shoulders?
What I love about this sentence is how empowering it is.
How much it inspires you to seize the bull by the horns and really live life, as if saying:
‘I’m going to love myself and my life no matter what s#@%t things are happening in this moment’.
And the layer underneath that being the quiet faith that ‘you’ve got this’ and Grace/God/The Universe is on your side.
How do you feel when you say it out loud?
